Human Powered Vehicles are Affordable and Capable!
It is possible to acquire a human powered vehicle and pay it off in less than one year from gasoline saved, by using it for only half of you transportation needs!
Cost of Actionbent T1A Tadpole Tricycle (HPV): $1,445
Cost of fuel saved with HPV for Summer 2008: $650
$650/3 months = $216.67/month saved by using trike half of the time
for transportation needs$1,445 (Cost of Tricycle) / $216.67 ($ saved per month) = 6.7 months to pay for tadpole tricycle from gasoline saved by using it 50% of the time
Why did we choose the tadpole tricycle?
- Recumbents (lying down position): Recumbents don’t hurt your body, instead the position makes you feel great! You can pedal all day and not be in pain! The health benefits are enormous since you could pedal all day and not feel it! To top it off, you can actually enjoy the scenery from the recumbent position!
- Stability: It does not want to tip over, even at 50+ mph. Only slight lean into turns required at high speeds.
- 100 pounds of cargo: On a daily basis, the Tadpole Tricycle has been loaded up with school books, laptop, extra clothes, bike kit, 100oz. hydration pouch, food, groceries…
- Speed: With conditioning, you can sustain 20+ mph. If you are just beginning, 13+ mph is an average achievable figure. Usually, even loaded up with 100+ pounds of stuff, we fly past racing bicyclists with much less effort than what they are putting out due to our superior aerodynamics.
- Cost: It’s cheaper than any other touring bicycles of this quality on the market! The construction of the tricycle is very well done. The welds are beautiful.
